Hello everyone! I’m Andi, the New Client Liaison here at Behavioral Perspective! As I mentioned in my video, I am not only the New Client Liaison, but I am a seasoned parent to a child with autism as well as to 4 neurotypical children.
Has your child recently received an autism diagnosis? Are you feeling a little lost, a lot confused, and just wondering where to even start this journey? Believe me when I say, I FEEL YOU. I have been there and I’m here to tell you, YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
Part of why I love my job at Behavioral Perspective is because I get the opportunity to help parents like yourself along this journey. My hopes as New Client Liaison is that I can make even one part of this journey a little easier for parents and families. I wish I could go back to my younger self and the time when my son, Ben, was first diagnosed and say to myself, “YOU CAN DO THIS.” Instead, I’m so grateful and humbled that I get to say this to you.
So, without further ado, here are my tips for parents that have a child who has recently been diagnosed with autism.
So tonight, while you are reading over the paperwork with the diagnosis, struggling to put your child to bed, or simply attempting to find some alone time, please remember that you are not alone. I hope these few tips from this mom will help even one of you find a glimpse of peace and optimism for the journey ahead of you.
