Start Now :) Start making a list and going through it each morning while your kiddo has a typical routine. That way when the routine changes, the practice of using the list will be familiar. It may be easier for your child to understand if started now.
Your child is a whole year older than last year! :) Expect that it may go a little better this year.
Write down one “win” from each outing so you can keep track of small successes!
Create a space and plan a place for breaks
Giving your child breaks throughout family events in a calm space may increase the amount of time spent there overall without becoming frustrated.
Ever so often, lead your child away from the crowd, giving a moment to calm and relax. Try to think ahead of time of where that place may be.
If you know how long your child can generally hang in there happily, give a break 5 minutes before that time.
Bring items your child has motivation to get!
Give them throughout the experience to keep it moving.
Give favorite things when your child has a success, even small ones.
PREPARE by taking some “you time”!! Anything that recharges your batteries, take some time and do that now! :)
