Jellyfish Wind Chime
Jellyfish swimming through a cool breeze may sound silly, but this fun craft is the perfect opportunity for your autistic child to practice fine motor skills. What you’ll need:
Paper bowl
Paint
Paint brush
Yarn
Scissors
Beads
Glue
Googly eyes
Tape Instructions:
Allow your kiddo to paint the paper bowl. It will form the jellyfish’s body. Set aside to dry.
Cut six pieces of yarn, about 6 inches in length. Set one of the pieces aside; it will be used to hang the wind chime.
Take one piece of yarn and tie a knot at one end. The knot should be big enough to keep the beads from falling off. Allow your kiddo to thread the beads of their choice onto the yarn. Making whatever fun color combinations they want. Be sure to leave about an inch of yarn exposed on the top.
Take your jellyfish body and turn it over. Attach the exposed part of the beaded yarn to the inside of the bowl using tape.
Repeat steps 3 through 5 with your remaining pieces of yarn until your jellyfish has all five legs.
To create your jellyfish’s face, add a bit of glue to the back of your googly eyes and add them to your jellyfish. Create a small hole at the top of the jellyfish's body and thread your final piece of yarn through it. Tie a knot at the end inside the bowl to ensure the body stays on the yarn.
At the other end, tie a loop. This will allow your kiddo to hang the jellyfish wind chime and watch it swim around in the breeze.Download Now!
