What Are Dreams

Help autistic children understand dreams! This social story explores why we dream, common dream experiences, and bedtime routines in a simple, engaging way.

What are Dreams? When I need to get some rest, I will go to sleep.
My eyes close, my breathing slows, and sometimes, I will dream.
Dreams are like movies and stories that play in our minds while we sleep.
They can feel very real, but they are not.
Fun things can happen in my dreams like sometimes I can:
Fly in the sky
Eat a whole cake
Become a wizard
Other times, my dreams can be a little scary.
Scary dreams are called nightmares and they are not fun.
I might wake up very fast and scared after a nightmare, but I know they aren't real.
If I have a nightmare I can tell my parents or my siblings, and they can comfort me.
Dreams can happen any time I fall asleep, even during a nap.
If I have a dream, I can share what it was about and others can share their dreams with me.Download Now!
