School Dance

Prepare for school dances with this helpful social story! Designed for autistic children, this resource helps explain what to expect at a school dance while supporting social understanding, communication, and confidence in new situations.

School Dance My school is planning a school dance.
A school dance is a big event organized by students and teachers.
It can take place at the school gym or other large spaces.
The dance will have lots of decorations like balloons, banners, and streamers.
There might even be a theme to the dance that matches the decorations.
At the dance, there will be a DJ playing music for my classmates and me to dance to.
If the music is too loud, I can wear some headphones to feel more comfortable.
At the school dance, I can expect:
Music playing
Students dancing
Fun decorations
Colorful lights
Everyone dressed up
The school dance is also when everyone dresses up in their nice clothes.
The dance might have a dress code to match the theme, or I might wear whatever colors I like.
The school dance can last 2 to 3 hours, so if I need a break, I can ask one of my teachers and then rejoin the fun when I’m ready.
I am excited for the school dance and to enjoy great music with all of my classmates!Download Now!
